The University of Michigan’s Program in Survey Methodology (MPSM) is an exciting graduate program that combines aspects of psychology, sociology, statistics, and information and data science to provide training in topics relevant to the understanding of human populations. The program offers PhD and MS degrees through the University of Michigan. The program's home is the Institute for Social Research, the world's largest academically-based social science research institute.
Students who graduate from this program can pursue careers in public health, business, public policy, consulting, and academics. Everyone is familiar with political polling, but survey methodologists also help with understanding the spread of disease, the risk of transportation injuries, the lifetime antecedents to a healthy old age, the marketing for new and existing products, among many, many career paths.
The application deadline for this program is January 1, 2018. Please contact Patsy Gregory (pagregor@umich.edu) with any questions you may have.
