Ashland University is announcing a three week summer program at
Hannam University in South Korea. Last summer, AU student Megan Gisclon participated in this program and she said it was fantastic. Nate Myers will support two students by paying the program cost ($2,000 value!) and adding an additional $1500 travel grant go help support student expenses.
The program runs from June 22 - July 14. The 3 week program is packed with interesting and fun
activities that will introduce you to South Korean culture. Participants will
hear presentations on South Korean history, architecture, martial arts,
economics, family & society, and intercultural communication. The
schedule also includes day and afternoon excursions, and participating students will be joined
by other college students from around the world. It is a 3 credit program, and the Director of Global Education is working to get it to count as a
Course with Study Away for the GPS. For non-GPS students, it would
count as 3 transfer credits toward your graduation credit requirement.
The tuition and housing ($2000 value) is taken care of by Dr. Nate
Myers. Students would be responsible for paying for their flight,
meals, laundry, international health insurance ($30-40), and personal
spending money. Dr. Nate Myers will be giving $1500 travel grants to go
toward these expenses. Interested students should email Rebecca Parillo (rparillo@ashland.edu)
a short essay on why they should be chosen for this experience and what they will gain. Additional information about the program can also be obtained from Rebecca. The deadline to apply for this program is April 1.
