Shelterwood in Independence, Missouri offers a one-year
leadership paid internship for college graduates. Students live and work
with troubled teenagers in a Christian therapeutic boarding school and
residential program.
They have a staff of licensed counselors who meet regularly with the students and
their parents. Counselors also work with the Shelterwood staff during the
year.
Many of our staff have earned an undergraduate degree in psychology, and they receive a year of practical training and instruction, as well as hundreds of hours of practical experience working with teenagers with a variety of emotional and social issues. In addition to receiving free room and board, our Shelterwood staff receive $1,000 a month salary plus benefits.
