Daegu Health College's Global Student Leadership Program 2011 offers students the opportunity to undertake a challenging extra-curricular program for a period of 9 days from August 10 - 18, 2011 (students need to arrive in Daegu on August 9 and leave on August 19). The theme of the program is "Meeting the Global Challenge: Creativity, Profession, and Humanity" and targets students who are interested to see their personal growth in inclusive environments and how student leadership can impact global issues and global change.
Lectures and discussions will be conducted in English and cover topics such as cultural diversity, intercultural communication, and key problems in global communities. The program also features a variety of activities conducted outside the classroom to engage student leaders in projects and provide the opportunity to explore Korean culture (e.g., Korean traditional dance, cooking contest, volunteering, practicum according to their major and field trips). At the closing ceremony students are required to make a group presentation or performance and will receive a certificate of completion for the program.
AU will have the opportunity to send 2-3 students to the program. COSTS: All meals, housing and activities are completely covered (no cost to students). Students are responsible for Airfare (this should be approximately $1500), and the International Program Office will provide a scholarship of $200 per student to help defray travel costs.
Interested students should contact Dawn Weber, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, at x5106. If you are interested, please contact her by Monday, April 25th.
