CSU and UA Accepting Applications for a Joint Doctoral Program in Adult Development and Aging




APPLICATIONS ARE DUE JANUARY 15, 2016

The University of Akron and Cleveland State University offer a joint doctoral program in the psychology of Adult Development and Aging. This unique program is one of the few Adult Development and Aging Ph.D. programs in the country – and the only one in Ohio.  Psychology (or related) undergraduate majors and individuals who have a master’s degree interested in pursuing doctoral training in basic and/or applied research in Adult Development and Aging are encouraged to apply.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
*All ADA graduate students were fully funded (tuition + stipend) in 2014-15
*Successful job placement for all doctoral graduates of the program (2014 and 2015)
*Link with Cleveland and Akron area medical and research institutes
*Be prepared to work in various roles in research, teaching, and applied settings
*Obtain training in the use of such psychophysiological measures as electrodermal activity, electrocardiogram, pupilommetry and more

RESEARCH TRAINING
The need for expert researchers in adult development and aging is at an all-time high due to dramatic shifts in global demographics toward older societies. You’ll work with experienced, full-time faculty to develop and carry out relevant research projects.

CURRICULUM
You’ll take equal amounts of coursework at each institution, covering research methods/design, adult biobehavioral functioning, and adult psychosocial functioning. Your coursework will also include advanced research seminars.
