Youngstown State University is announcing a new Master of Arts in
Gerontology. The program is among the few in the country that trains
professionals to directly work with, advocate for, educate others about, and
investigate issues surrounding our growing population of older adults. As
part of the interdisciplinary curriculum, students gain both research and
applied skills working with faculty and doing internships with community
partners. Importantly, these skills translate into diverse job
opportunities or preparation for admission to doctoral level programs. Gerontology
is often misunderstood by students, yet is a burgeoning field with an
